Platform-Collaborate

Maths investigations often require students to work in groups and require members to be effective collaborators. In this lesson, up to this point, I have explained how the current situation (the floods) can be linked to a maths investigation, the numeracy and literacy skills required in an investigation, and how to source data. It is time to focus on collaboration skills, which require using your literacy skills and being good digital citizens.

When collaborating in a maths investigation, you have access to technology that can be efficient and effective as the groups work out what their question will be. To ensure everyone's online collaboration is a positive experience, you need to follow important cyber tips.

Next week, you will be working in four groups of five or six, and you will be collaborating to determine a question that you have about a situation. In this part of the lesson, you will use your "Padlet" student accounts to communicate with each other. Before reading the instructions in the slide below, please read my posts.

Made with Padlet

For this lesson, the "Blue Group" is the entire class of 21. I have used five names to explain how I will communicate with you next week. Before you do the exercise below, please click on the purple + circle at the bottom right-hand side of the page and type a short, respectful message to the class.

In this exercise, you must match two coloured cards to make a sentence that makes the most sense from a digital citizenship perspective.
